Graphic Designer, Print Promotions

Contract Position

We are seeking a designer to help develop and implement marketing and press materials for Colette Patterns. This is a contract position for a short-term project, but could lead to more projects of this nature going forward. This designer would be responsible for designing and creating print materials to help promote Colette Patterns. We are looking for someone creative who can come up with cool ideas that fit our brand.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with us to design in-store signage and materials that appear in independent fabric stores and boutiques around the US, Europe, and Australia.
  • Design and assemble press kits to be sent to magazines aimed at cool young women (i.e. Bust, Venus) and women who sew (Threads, Sew Stylish).
  • Design, print, and assemble “welcome kits” for new retailers.
  • Design posters and other fun promotional materials.
  • Research and work with printers to create printed materials.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with print design process, and experience with relevant Adobe applications.
  • Strong portfolio of relevant work.
  • Ability to meet occasionally at our studio in SE Portland
  • Great email communication, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Experience with sewing or fashion a plus (but not required).

Editorial Intern

Internship Position

Our blog is strong and growing! We’re looking for writer/editors to help make it amazing.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Teaching and inspiring fellow sewers through informative, beautiful tutorials that you create in our studio.
  • Brainstorming creative ideas for sewing-related content and planning the development of the Colette Patterns blog.
  • Sourcing interesting and inspirational sewing ideas.
  • Collaborating with guest bloggers and interview subjects.
  • Styling beautiful photos of the projects you create.
  • Fostering a growing community of creative sewers and interacting through comments and other blogs.

This is a three-month internship, and is located in Portland, OR.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Reliable and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Intermediate sewing skills
  • Basic Photoshop skills
  • Able to work from our studio in SE Portland 1-2 days a week, during business hours.

This is an unpaid internship, but benefits also include full credit and promotion on the blog, a fabric stipend for the projects you create, and experience building up a useful and popular website. And of course, you get free patterns.
